Hanami or blossom viewing is a national pastime in Japan as the Cherry Blossom front moves up the country. This year I'm holding a special out-door tea ceremony to celebrate the magic of the cherry blossom.

There's a wonderful avenue of trees in Greenwich Park which will make a magical setting for our blossom viewing tea party. I'll perform out-door tea ceremony using the special traveling cases (chabako and tanzakubako) for tea ceremony out-doors. Guests will be invited to bring their own picnic to enjoy under the blossoms as between servings of tea.

As the beauty and magic of a Hanami Tea Party depends entirely on the state of the blossoms and the weather I'm not setting a clear date and time in advance but predict, based on last year, that the blossoms will be in bloom roughly between mid March and the first week of April. Of course, given the cold snap we've just had, this may well be a week or even two later.

So, how to get involved? Register here, but don't pay yet (select offline payment option) and I'll collect cash on the day. By registering I know that you are interested in attending and will have your details so I can send out emails or texts nearer the time to arrange the party. Hopefully I can find a time that works for almost everyone but please understand that setting a time is at the mercy of blossoms, weather and schedules. So here's hoping!
